Snails anyone ??
Submitted by Frank Francis on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 17:51.Sea Snails anyone? Costa Rica is a wonderful place to live which goes beyond saying and nature is the way of life for anyone that lives here. The mountains, the ocean, the rivers (well not exactly the rivers in the city) are all in their natural pristine shape the way God had planned. It is hard to believe that there is anywhere left on the planet to compare with the wonders and diversity that C.R.offers.
Just another fish story ...

Food on the rocks !
Submitted by Frank Francis on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 17:45.I would like to continue my fish story from a few days ago. There was a local with a hammer the other day banging on the rocks out in front of my house. You are probably wondering what he was doing. I of course knew because I’ve done the same many times before.
Anyway, he was separating “Ostiones” from the rocks. For those of you that have no idea what an Ostione is, we are talking
Sea Oysters. The meat of our Costa Rica version when they are young looks a little like a Piss Clam.
Fresh Fish in Playa Tambor !
Submitted by Frank Francis on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 17:43.Fresh fish, what a wonderful thing! I live in Playa Tambor where we have a municipal pier and the local fishermen come back with their fresh catch daily. Did you know that when you buy fish in a market, the fish lays in a cooler on a boat for a minimum of 15 days before it gets to be processed?
Final destination!!
Submitted by Frank Francis on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 17:03.My wife asked me the other day, (she’s “Tica”) – “why don’t you go back to the States for a while, you can make some money”. Of course she would like to see the States with someone that knows where to go. My answer to her was “if I go back to the States this place may not be here when I come back” !
I thought to myself that was a crazy thing to say. Of course Costa Rica will be here if I were to go back and return, but I don’t think I’ll take the chance.
Spring Expats & 6.0's
Submitted by Frank Francis on Fri, 04/27/2007 - 16:52.Hey, how about this weather? We finally got some rain here in Playa Tambor and the Mountains are already green. Spring is in the air. The birds are birding, the cows are cowing and people are fixing their roofs. God, I really love this place.
I would like to mention some things to the “ex pats” that live here. Costa Rica is a hell of a lot better than where we came from and some people tend to forget this.
All right, in total fairness Costa Rica does have some problems. Some things take a lot of time and patience, but this is part of the bargain.
New Ferry versus old Peninsular !
Submitted by Bas on Thu, 04/26/2007 - 00:12.The company Naviera Tambor was officially awarded the exclusive licensing and Ferry route from Puntarenas to Paquera and has purchased a brand new ferry called Tambor 2 and is as of December 2006 operating together with the newly remodeled Naviera Ferry 1. The ferry Tambor 2 has the capacity to transport 165 cars, and the ferry Tambor 1, 45 cars. Both ferry's are operating from 4:30 am until 10:30 pm daily > this opened an incredible door and eliminating the anterior Ferry lines.

The southern Nicoya Peninsula has 6 different beach locations; Tambor , Montezuma , Cabuya , MalPais / Santa Teresa, Manzanillo and Coyote; each one with its particularity but all surrounded by pristine beaches, private reserves, mid tropical forests, rivers and waterfalls and spectacular sunsets and sunrises.
Travelling to the Nicoya Peninsula!
Submitted by Bas on Wed, 04/25/2007 - 21:29.The Nicoya Peninsula is quickly becoming the new tourism burst for Costa Rica. The extreme tourists have been uncovering the secret gems of Nicoya for approximately 15 years. Some of Central America's most pristine beaches are found around the Peninsula as well as world's best surfing spots all along the Pacific seaboard. It is difficult to believe the diversity here. The mountains, meadows, marshes and lowland areas are consistent with the central valley and abundant wildlife.
