Moving to Costa Rica

When i first visited Costa Rica in 1989, I flew from Portland, Oregon to Miami, Florida and then rested for most of the afternoon at the Miami airport hotel which has a roof top swimming pool free to passengers smart enough to stumble upon it! And then a RACSA flight direct to San Jose started out with a booze cart pushed down the isle just as the wheels touched off the runway. I can tell you we were very high by the time we arrived at Juan Santa Maria International Airport and I stumbled out onto the tarmac and the greeting customs agents who waved us all thru and into paradise.

International Moving

When moving to Costa Rica from the United States or Canada, you will want to bring some or all of your household possessions with you. Moving internationally can bring many headaches but if you do it right, can be a no hassle experience. When i moved to Costa Rica i shipped the few things i wanted with the airlines each time i flew between the USA and canada, always using my iPod for music distractions of course!

Arenal or Nuevo Arenal

I live in the town of Nuevo Arenal Costa Rica. We who live here all call our town Arenal, but the tourists who don't know anybetter call Fortuna "arenal" also. I often talk to visitors to Costa Rica who tell me they spent a week in Arenal and loved it. When i ask them why i did not meet them at the friday night bar night they then tell me they were in Fortuna. I think what is happening is that tourist operators are promoting Fortuna as Arenal because of the Volcano Arenal which is the centerpiece of their product.

Environmental Factor

Consider the Environmental Factor

Environmental regulations on properties and activities can hinder your real estate investment. To avoid unpleasant surprises, be sure to seek the advice of an environmental and real estate law expert before making a decision.

Arenal Real Estate update

I live on Lake Arenal and work with a number of Costa Rica real estate companies. Although most of my time is spent indoors on the computer I do have feedback from clients as to how the real estate market is doing this season. It's good to hear that properties are selling and several agents i know are beaming because both closed deals in April that paid good commissions. It seems that anymore a deal in the $100,000 dollar range is common place and not a bragging sale. But deals over 3 million dollars cause a lot of talk.

Free Trade - TLC

Costa Rica has some of the hottest real estate on the planet right now and might very well be the best place to be on the planet right now with investors from around the world pouring in to grab one of the last pieces of true paradise left and now that the free trade agreement between the United States and Costa Rica has been ratified, the evolution of this little Republic is finally seated on solid ground.

Concession Maritime Zone

The tourism boom Costa Rica is currently experiencing, especially in the Pacific Coast in places such as Tambor, Tamarindo, Jaco & Mal Pais, has generated a large demand for costa rica real estate in the beach areas. Consequently owners and developers are forced to find ways to maximize the use of land located in the restricted area within the shoreline zone, with the goal of providing access to a larger number of people and seeking coastal tourism.

Stewart Title

The interest of baby boomers in second homes throughout certain Mexican, Central American and Caribbean markets has shown great resilience, despite the health of the U.S. economy or other geopolitical event such as September 11.
As Stewart Title Latin America continues to expand throughout the region, the most commonly asked question is; how long and hot will this real estate market be? We cannot predict the future, but there are a number of key economic and geopolitical variables leading us to believe this segment will continue growing in the foreseeable!!
